A B e Zero sono le sigle utilizzate per i gruppi sanguigni. L'unione di queste è diventato il nome dell'Associazione dei Donatori di Sangue dell'Ospedale San Raffaele.

A Milano la richiesta giornaliera di sangue supera di gran lunga l'effettiva disponibilità: attualmente il numero di donazioni non è sufficiente a coprire il fabbisogno dei centri ospedalieri.

Anche l'Ospedale San Raffaele ha bisogno di nuovi donatori per aiutare i pazienti ricoverati: ogni giorno vengono trasfuse almeno 50 unità di sangue, che risultano di non facile e immediata reperibilità.

Se si tiene presente che il sangue è un farmaco insostituibile negli interventi chirurgici, nei trapianti e nella cura delle malattie tumorali, e che non può essere prodotto in laboratorio, ci si rende perfettamente conto che la vita di molti pazienti dipende dalla generosità di persone disponibili a periodiche donazioni.

A.Bi.Zero promuove e coordina tutte le attività volte alla diffusione del volontariato nella donazione di sangue, sostenendo progetti finalizzati di intervento.

AbiZero è un'associazione non profit ONLUS, iscritta al Registro Regionale del Volontariato della Regione Lombardia.
